If You Don't Have a Medicare Referral
You don’t need a referral to see a dietitian privately.
If you don’t have an eligible Medicare referral, you can book a standard Dietitian Appointment instead.
A private Dietitian Appointment may be a better fit if you want more time, don’t have a GP care plan, or want nutrition advice that isn’t being billed through Medicare.

Medicare Appointment or Private Dietitian Appointment?
Choose Medicare
Choose a Medicare Dietitian Appointment if you have an eligible GP referral and want to use Medicare-supported dietitian care.
Choose Private
Choose a private Dietitian Appointment if you don’t have a Medicare referral, want a longer appointment, or want to book dietitian support outside of a GP care plan.
Both options can include personalised nutrition advice. The difference is how the appointment is booked, billed and structured.
